Understanding Our Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Service
In today’s fast-paced and often isolating world, many individuals find themselves grappling with overwhelming emotions and mental health challenges. It’s in these moments of vulnerability that the risk of self-harm and suicide can become frighteningly real. Our mission is to provide a lifeline for those in need, offering support, understanding, and resources to guide individuals through their darkest times. Here’s a closer look at our self-harm and suicide prevention service.
What We Offer
Outreach Support Line
Our outreach support line is open on a Tuesday and Thursday evening and a Sunday (hours to be confirmed) It is run by our trained volunteers who are ready to listen and provide immediate support. This is for individuals who have been referred to the service, following an act of self-harm or attempted suicide. Our team is here to offer a compassionate ear and practical advice and signposting.
Therapy Services
We provide both in-person and virtual therapy sessions tailored to individual needs. Our therapists specialise in depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues that often accompany self-harm and suicidal thoughts. Through a blend of therapeutic approaches, we aim to help individuals develop coping strategies and build resilience.
Educational Workshops
Prevention starts with education. Our workshops are designed to educate communities, schools, and workplaces about the signs of self-harm and suicidal ideation. We equip participants with the knowledge to recognize these signs and the skills to intervene appropriately.
Support Groups
Connecting with others who understand your experiences can be incredibly healing. Our support groups provide a safe space for individuals to share their stories, offer mutual support, and learn from each other’s journeys.
Resource Centre
Our resource centre is a comprehensive library of information on mental health, self-care techniques, and coping mechanisms. Whether you prefer reading articles, watching videos, or engaging in interactive content, we have resources to suit all learning styles.
Why Our Service Matters
Early Intervention Saves Lives
Timely intervention can make all the difference. By providing immediate access to support and resources, we can help individuals before their struggles escalate into crises.
Removing Stigma
Talking openly about self-harm and suicide is crucial in removing the stigma that often surrounds these issues. By fostering open conversations, we hope to encourage more people to seek help without fear of judgment.
Community Building
We believe that no one should face their challenges alone. Our service fosters a sense of community, offering individuals the support network they need to navigate difficult times.
