Suicide First Aid Lite

Course overview:

Teaching the theory and practise of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting, this programme is delivered over 3.5 hours as a suicide prevention awareness session. We use only the most experienced suicide prevention trainers to deliver this unique learning experience: for anyone who seeks greater understanding and confidence to intervene with people at risk of suicide.

The Suicide First Aid Lite (Virtual  or face to face) course is a half-day training course to learn skills to have a conversation with someone who may be thinking about suicide and signpost them to appropriate help, using a first aid approach.

Course content:

SFA Lite is comprised of 2 parts, each 90 minutes duration. The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide, to speak openly about suicide, and to competently intervene.

Suicide First Aid: Understanding Suicide Intervention

Course overview:

Teaching the theory and practise of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting, captured in a one-day event accredited by City and Guilds of London. We use only the most experienced suicide prevention trainers to deliver this unique learning experience: for anyone who seeks greater understanding and confidence to intervene with people at risk of suicide.

The Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Intervention (SFAUSI) course is a full-day training course to learn and practice the skills needed to identify to someone who may be thinking about suicide and competently intervene to help create a safe plan, as a first aid approach.

Course content:

SFAUSI is comprised of 4 parts, each 90 minutes duration. The programme teaches and practices the skills and knowledge needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and competently intervene to help create suicide- safety as a first aid approach. Suicide Awareness Training for 16+

This training will teach young people

  • The definitions and differences of suicide and self-harm
  • Children & Young People Suicide Statistics
  • What might lead a young person to think about suicide
  • Myths around Suicide
  • How young people can help others and potentially prevent a suicide

In addition to this the young people will take the suicide prevention training and develop a prevention plan for issues they might face.

Suicide First Aid for Children & Young People (CYP)

A one-day programme for educative and community settings on how to have a conversation with CYP that could save a life.

Course overview:

Teaching the theory and practise of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any educative setting with transferable skills to personal settings. Captured in a one-day training event (City & Guilds Assured) for School Staff seeking greater understanding and confidence to intervene with CYP experiencing suicide thoughts.

SFA: CYP course gives Learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths amongst CYP. Responding appropriately from a Safeguarding perspective, underpinned by UNCRC and a trauma informed approach.

Course content:

SFA: CYP course is comprised of 4 parts, each 90 minutes duration. The programme teaches knowledge and skills needed to identify CYP who may be thinking about suicide with the opportunity to build confidence through practise to competently facilitate a Suicide First Aid intervention.

Mini Medics Mental Health

Many people find it difficult to talk about mental health and even more so when it is talking to children and young people, we may feel that they are too young for the conversation, however over the last few years, especially through and following Covid, referrals to children’s mental health services has significantly increased.

We know that children transitioning from primary school to senior school, experience many changes and challenges that can impact on their mental health.  We can support our children understand mental health and what can help them be mentally well. We can change cultures, reduce the stigma and enable our children to talk openly about their feelings and worries.

Mini Medics Mental Health is a mental health training course designed for children between the ages of 9 and 14 but it can suit children of any age.

The course will provide the children with a basic understanding of mental health, including what mental health means, how it is linked to physical health, what to do if they have a worry and the many ways in which they can look after their mental health and give them tools and coping strategies.

This course will engage children and support them to talk and learn openly about Mental Health in a fun way

The course includes the following modules:

  • Understanding mental health
  • Emotions and feelings
  • Mental health problems
  • Talking about mental health
  • Looking after our mental health

Each Child will receive:

  • Mini Medics Mental Health Book
  • Mini Medics branded pen or pencil set
